HappyKava respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the HappyKava mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “App”).
By accessing or using the App, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the App.

- Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password to authenticate your access, manage your profile, and enable personalized features.
1.2 Location Data
To provide nearby kava bar specials, events, and check-ins, we collect geolocation data with your permission. You can allow or deny location access at any time in your device settings.
1.3 Device Identifiers
We collect device identifiers (such as a unique device ID or other technical tokens) to validate check-ins, prevent duplicate votes, and protect against fraud or abuse.
1.4 Photos and Media
If you choose to upload images — for example, photos of bars, flyers, or event suggestions — the App may request access to your photo library. Access is optional and used only for the photos you choose to share.
1.5 User-Submitted Content
When you check in, cast votes, or submit reports/suggestions, we collect the information you provide, including any text, images, or metadata associated with your submission.
1.6 Preferences & Favorites
If you save favorite bars or enable notifications, we store that preference information to provide personalized experiences.
1.7 Optional Profile Data
You may voluntarily provide additional information such as a birthday (for perks) or contact details when authentication is enabled.
1.8 Technical Data
We automatically log non-identifying technical data such as IP address, app version, device type, and diagnostic logs to ensure performance and stability.
We do not collect financial, health, biometric, or contact list data.
We do not use your data for cross-app tracking or third-party advertising.
- How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
Deliver and personalize App features (discovery of specials, events, and bar info)
Confirm legitimate check-ins and prevent location spoofing
Process votes, favorites, and community reports
Provide notifications and reminders when enabled

With Bar Operators/Partners – Aggregated, anonymized insights (e.g., total check-ins per event) may be shared but never tied to an identifiable individual.

- Data Retention
Check-ins, votes, and reports are stored as part of the App’s operational database.

Aggregated or anonymized data may be retained indefinitely.
- Your Choices
Location Services: You can disable location access via device settings; however, certain App functions (like nearby specials and check-ins) will not work without it.
Photos: You can deny photo access at any time in your device settings; this only limits image-upload functionality.
Notifications: You can opt in or out of push notifications in the App settings.
Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your HappyKava account and all associated data at any time from within the App (Profile → Settings → Delete My Account). You may also request deletion by emailing us using the information below. Once deleted, your account and related personal information cannot be recovered.
Data Deletion: If you only wish to remove specific personal data without deleting your account, you may contact us using the information below.
- Permissions and Access
The App may request access to your location (for nearby bars and check-ins) and photos (to upload images). These permissions are optional and can be modified in your device settings. Denying access will limit certain features but will not affect your ability to browse public content.
- Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection. You use the App at your own risk.
- Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such data, we will delete it promptly.
- International Users
If you access the App outside the United States, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
